Cookies.
Two kinds of things live in your browser: analytics cookies, and your game saves.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)
_ga and _ga_<id> are set by Google Analytics to tell visits apart and count sessions. They last up to two years. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland they are not set unless you accept them. Change your cookie choice at any time.
Game saves (local storage)
These are not cookies and are never sent to any server. They exist so your games are still there next time. Clearing site data in your browser removes them.
