Free NBA simulators, built by fans, run in your browser.

HoopSim is a small, independent project: free basketball simulators that run in your browser. It started from a simple frustration with most NBA game simulators online, which give you a final score and nothing else. We wanted the whole game: a real box score, plays you can follow, rotations, fatigue and fouls.

Everything here runs on one game engine that plays out every possession. It is tuned against real league averages, so a simulated season looks like an NBA season. The same engine runs the single-game simulator, the season simulator, the career mode, the GM simulator and the projections behind the draft lottery and the trade simulator. How it works explains the model in detail.

What we build

Seven free games, all on the same rosters: the NBA Game Simulator, the Season Simulator, the Draft Lottery Simulator with the new 3-2-1 format, the Draft Simulator, the Career Simulator, the GM Simulator and the Trade Simulator. None of them need an account, and none are behind a paywall.

Where the data comes from

Rosters, per-game statistics and reported contracts come from Wikipedia and its contributors, under the CC BY-SA license. Player ratings are our own, derived from those statistics, and we show them as tiers rather than numbers. Some contracts are estimates where no reported figure was available, and they are labeled as estimates in the games.

Accuracy and corrections

Rosters are refreshed regularly through the season, so traded and newly signed players move to their new teams. If you spot a player on the wrong team, a wrong contract or a bug, tell us: corrections with a source are usually fixed in the next update.

Not affiliated

HoopSim is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the NBA or any of its teams. Team and player names are used only to identify them. We don't use league or team logos. See the disclaimer.
